Position Overview:

We are seeking a dedicated Environmental Consultant specializing in Mine Closure Strategy to enhance our Mining division. This role involves collaborating with project managers and partners on diverse mine closure initiatives, with opportunities to engage in various environmental disciplines such as archaeology, ecology, and water management.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in a range of mining and contaminated site projects, including but not limited to environmental assessments, site investigations, mine closure planning, cost estimation, and asset retirement obligations.
  • Coordinate fieldwork support activities, including surveying, laboratory services, and equipment maintenance.
  • Compile and analyze data to aid in report generation.
  • Contribute to team project delivery, primarily following the guidance of project managers.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Work within established quality, budget, and schedule parameters while adhering to specific assignment scopes.
  • Conduct fieldwork, including sampling of soil, water, air, and dust, as well as supporting remediation efforts.
  • Engage with subcontractors, regulatory agents, and clients during field operations.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, geology, environmental science, or a related field; a postgraduate degree is advantageous.
  • 0 - 4 years of relevant experience in mining or environmental assessment.
  • Experience in BC, Ontario, or the Territories, with knowledge of mine closure and environmental regulations in these areas is beneficial.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with experience in technical reporting preferred.
  • Commitment to safety protocols and procedures.
  • Able to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
  • Detail-oriented with effective problem-solving abilities.
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
  • Willingness to conduct fieldwork in remote locations is a plus.
  • Additional language skills (e.g., French and Spanish) are advantageous.
  • Eligibility for professional registration as a member in training (e.g., E.I.T., G.I.T., or A.I.T.) is a plus.
