Global Internationalization Program Manager

The Globalization Technology team is on the lookout for a highly capable and driven Internationalization Program Manager to establish the groundwork for the function and execute our internationalization strategy. In this role, you will be instrumental in forging essential partnerships that will bolster EG's global expansion initiatives by ensuring our products are internationalization compliant from the outset and that our language experiences are culturally and linguistically customized for diverse markets from the product development phase.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Identify and map key stakeholders from Partner & Traveler Products, Engineering, Design, and Marketing teams to comprehend the current state and ecosystem, and cultivate strategic partnerships to adopt a comprehensive approach to internationalization.
  • Conduct assessments of existing internationalization libraries and translation workflows to establish a clear baseline of the current state and define the ideal future state.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (with a focus on Vrbo and Partner Central) including Product Management, Engineering, Design, and Marketing to integrate internationalization requirements into product roadmaps and development cycles.
  • Coordinate with the BEX team to ensure we can successfully deliver on our UAE expansion from an internationalization perspective, as BEX currently lacks consistent support for bi-directional text or ICU Syntax across applications.
  • Spearhead GenAI initiatives related to internationalization by testing GPT-4 and GitHub co-pilot's capabilities in automating the identification and resolution of internationalization issues.
  • Enhance our internationalization analytics reporting by revamping our existing Tableau dashboard and ensuring automatic data visibility in both Localization and Quality Platform teams' dashboards.
  • Collaborate with key partners to design and develop a Global Readiness Scorecard to assess the readiness level of our products and ensure continuous internationalization compliance from both Development and Design perspectives.
  • Lead efforts in testing and integrating the Figma connector in XTM to promote agility during the design and development stages and advocate for the practice and adoption of pseudo-localization.
  • Act as a subject matter expert on internationalization best practices, standards, and tools, providing guidance and training to internal teams through advocacy programs.
  • Develop and present an internationalization roadmap and share results with stakeholders during business reviews, technical and experience design sync-ups, etc.
  • Conduct market research and competitive analysis for internationalization to identify opportunities and challenges in target markets, providing insights to enhance local user experiences.

Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g., International Business, Linguistics, Computer Science) is required; a Master's degree is preferred.
  • PMP or an equivalent project management certification is preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience managing internationalization or localization projects in a fast-paced, technology-driven environment, ideally within the travel sector.
  • A solid understanding of internationalization concepts, standards, and best practices, with practical experience implementing them in software or digital products.
  • Strong program management skills, business acumen, adaptability, strategic thinking, and effective task prioritization to achieve results in a dynamic and evolving environment.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work cross-functionally and build relationships with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Proficiency in multiple programming languages is advantageous (Python, VueJS framework, Java, Rails framework, PHP).
  • Experience with international SEO, SEM, or digital marketing is desirable.
