Key Responsibilities
  • Read and Interpret Blueprints: Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications to determine the layout of plumbing systems, water supply networks, and waste and drainage systems.
  • Locate and Mark Pipe Connections: Locate and mark positions for pipe connections, passage holes, and fixtures in walls and floors.
  • Cut and Join Pipes: Cut opening in walls and floors to accommodate pipe and pipe fittings, and join pipes using couplings, clamps, screws, bolts, cement, or soldering, brazing, and welding equipment.
  • Test Pipes for Leaks: Test pipes for leaks using air and water pressure gauges.
  • Determine Piping System Requirements: Determine piping system requirements and pipe sizing.
  • Measure, Cut, and Bend Pipes: Measure, cut, thread, and bend pipes to the required shape and size.
Requirements
  • Education: Registered Apprenticeship certificate or equivalent experience.
  • Experience: Will train or equivalent experience.
  • Work Setting: Various locations, commercial, and residential settings.
  • Transportation/Travel Information: Vehicle supplied by employer, valid driver's license.
