Key Responsibilities
Are you looking to thrive in a supportive work environment where collaboration is key?
Reporting directly to the Executive Director of Strategic Services, the Director of Legislative Affairs is responsible for guiding a dedicated team that facilitates legislative planning services for two key departments: Jobs, Economy and Trade, and Immigration and Multiculturalism. These departments manage a diverse array of policies, legislation, and regulatory initiatives that significantly influence the lives of Albertans.
This role encompasses the planning, development, and oversight of intricate legislative projects, ensuring effective collaboration with colleagues from start to finish. The Director is tasked with delivering a comprehensive range of services to departmental clients, which includes the drafting of legal documents such as bills, regulations, Ministerial Orders, Recommendations for Orders in Council, and delegation instruments.
As the Director of Legislative Affairs, your key accountabilities will include:
- Ensuring that the statutory and regulatory planning of JET and IM aligns with a cohesive policy and legislative framework;
- Guaranteeing that legislative measures reflect and support the policies and programs of the department and Government, while safeguarding the interests of the Ministry and Government;
- Confirming that legislative instruments meet the governance needs of the Agency and comply with legal requirements; and
- Ensuring that the delegation of legislative authority from the JET and IM Minister is consistent with the policy direction of the responsible Ministry.
We seek individuals with exceptional consultation abilities and political insight. Equally important is the collaborative spirit you bring to the role. You will thrive in our environment if you prioritize delivering high-quality work while fostering positive relationships with your team, clients, and colleagues.
If you are committed to exemplary leadership and cultivating a constructive workplace culture where everyone can contribute authentically, we look forward to your interest.
Welcome to your next opportunity.
