Job Summary:

The Government of Alberta is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Director, Policy Coordination to lead and manage a multi-disciplinary team of legislative, regulatory, and policy specialists in the Strategic and Integrated Services Division. The successful candidate will be responsible for shaping and communicating the ministry's strategic policy direction and supporting informed decision-making at senior leadership levels within the department, and at the Ministerial and cabinet levels.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Enhance policy capacity within the Ministry, support policy integration within the Ministry, and inform decision-making at senior leadership, Ministerial, and cabinet levels.
  2. Provide leadership in the development of a comprehensive policy agenda aligned with the Ministry's legislative and strategic plans and support Executive as packages are brought forward for cabinet committee.
Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will possess a university degree (Masters preferred) in natural science, business, social science, or other related fields, and a minimum of 6 years of extensive related experience in policy development and government decision-making. Experience with Environment and Protected Area's policy and legislation, and other relevant government legislation, is an asset.

The successful candidate will be able to adapt quickly to the changing landscape and priorities, foster agility in others, create processes and opportunities that encourage proactive and flexible practices across the ministry, inter-ministry, and with external stakeholders.
