Job Title: Chief Executive Officer - Guelph Public LibraryJob Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Chief Executive Officer to lead our public library system. The successful candidate will have a strong track record of strategic leadership, community engagement, and team management.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide strategic and operational leadership to the library system, ensuring alignment with the library's mission, vision, and values.
  • Develop and implement strategic plans, focusing on community responsiveness, customer service, and staff development.
  • Lead the library's senior management team, ensuring effective communication, collaboration, and decision-making.
  • Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including the library board, city council, community groups, and partners.
  • Ensure the library's financial sustainability, managing budgets, and making informed decisions about resource allocation.
  • Develop and implement policies, procedures, and programs that promote diversity, equity, and inclusion.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies, applying this knowledge to drive innovation and improvement.
Requirements:
  • Master's degree in Library Science or a related field, or a bachelor's degree with significant experience in a related field.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in senior management roles within public libraries or similar organizations.
  • Proven track record of strategic leadership, community engagement, and team management.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a unionized environment.
