Overview:

The Mircom Group of Companies is in search of a Quality Assurance Specialist to oversee the testing of Fire, Communication, Automation, and related smart building technologies. The ideal candidate will be tasked with ensuring the reliability and performance of our products, while also conducting pre-certification assessments for regulatory organizations.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Formulate testing strategies and protocols for validating networked fire alarm control systems and configuration tools.
  • Create comprehensive documentation for testing procedures and regression testing plans.
  • Execute feature, functionality, stability, and regression tests on products.
  • Design and manage personal laboratory test networks.
  • Collaborate with the QA team and Product Developers to coordinate testing efforts.
  • Assist in replicating customer issues within the QA laboratory.
  • Provide constructive feedback to developers to enhance product usability.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Minimum of 2+ years of experience in QA testing or a related field.
  • Proficient understanding of both wired and wireless networking protocols.
  • Solid knowledge of IT infrastructure and the setup and operation of networking equipment.
  • Familiarity with cloud-based software solutions.
  • Capability to utilize network protocol analyzers for troubleshooting and analyzing networking and communication challenges.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Self-driven and effective in a collaborative team setting.
  • Experience with debugging tools such as JTAG, BDM, and FPGA Programming is advantageous.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Windows Operating Systems.
  • Experience with Real-Time Operating Systems.
  • Background in working with electronic circuits and engineering laboratory testing equipment.
  • Ability to interpret schematics and modify hardware is a plus.
  • Familiarity with issue tracking and management tools like Bugzilla and JIRA.
  • Hands-on experience with product installation and configuration, including the use of hand tools.
  • Maintain a tidy and professional workspace.

Educational Background:

  • Diploma in electronics or a related electro-mechanical technology field.
  • Degree in electrical, software, or mechanical engineering.
