Job Title: Law Clerk

Brar Legal Services is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Law Clerk to join our team. As a Law Clerk, you will play a crucial role in supporting our lawyers and staff in various legal matters.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Establish Work Priorities: Assist in setting priorities for court staff to ensure efficient case management.
  • Document Management: Receive and process affidavits, declarations, and affirmations, as well as research and organize court files and other legal documents.
  • Client Representation: Represent clients in small claims court and other lower court proceedings, at tribunals, and before administrative bodies.
  • Scheduling and Coordination: Schedule court trials, arrange pre-trial conferences, and hearings, and witness and certify the validity of signatures on documents.
  • Administrative Tasks: Collect and record administrative and service fees, draft legal correspondence, and explain rights and obligations to defendants.
Requirements:
  • Education: College, CEGEP, or other non-university certificate or diploma from a program of 1 year to 2 years.
  • Experience: 7 months to less than 1 year, or equivalent experience.
  • Language: English.
  • Work Hours: 35 to 40 hours per week.
