ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Oversee formed plastics production through direct supervision.
  • Ensure the safety and well-being of all production team members.
  • Guarantee quality standards are met while achieving production schedules.
  • Plan, monitor, and ensure performance aligns with budgetary and operational goals.
  • Introduce and promote team-based and lean manufacturing principles among production staff.
  • Manage assigned Health, Safety, and Environmental programs.
  • Oversee the Woodbridge Production System in production and setup.
  • Effectively communicate training and operational priorities to team members.
  • Actively participate in plant Joint Health and Safety Committee (JHSC).
  • Meet production, material, labor, and overhead costs within budget.
  • Support Production Supervisors in resolving safety, quality, and production priority issues.
  • Collaborate closely with the Quality department to conduct regular inspections of work in progress to ensure compliance with customer specifications.
  • Implement lean manufacturing initiatives, promoting Kaizens, Kamishibai's, Natural Work Teams, and Continuous Improvement strategies.
  • Understand and apply the current collective agreement to ensure smooth operations with unionized staff and provide guidance to supervisors.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Essential Attributes:

  • Proven leadership and coaching capabilities in a unionized manufacturing environment.
  • An engaged leader who collaborates with the entire team to drive success.
  • Results-driven with a 'get it done' mindset.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple complex production demands simultaneously.
  • Strong communication skills (both written and verbal) with the ability to simplify complex issues.
  • Proficient in standard office software: MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook), etc.
  • Experience in implementing and sustaining Lean manufacturing practices.

SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED:

  • Leadership experience at the supervisory or management level in an automotive parts manufacturing setting.
  • A leader who prioritizes safety while producing high-quality parts and services for customers.
  • A manufacturing manager skilled in executing and scheduling daily production effectively while managing labor and related costs.
  • Provides leadership and management to a diverse and engaged team.
  • Experience in project coordination and troubleshooting production equipment failures efficiently.
  • A proven history of successfully managing safety-focused production, quality, and capacity fulfillment.
