About the Role

We are seeking a skilled and experienced instructor to join our team at SAIT, a global leader in applied education. As a Heavy Equipment Instructor, you will play a critical role in delivering high-quality training programs to students in the Heavy Equipment trades area.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and deliver engaging lesson plans, lectures, and lab activities that meet the needs of adult learners.
  • Maintain accurate records of student progress, attendance, and grades.
  • Manage the classroom or lab environment to ensure a positive and inclusive learning experience.
  • Provide individualized support and guidance to students to help them achieve their learning objectives.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to develop and implement curriculum that meets industry standards.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry developments and advancements in Heavy Equipment technology.
  • Participate in ongoing professional development to enhance teaching skills and knowledge.
Requirements
  • Hold an Alberta Heavy Equipment Technician Certificate of Apprenticeship and Proficiency or equivalent with interprovincial (Red Seal) status.
  • Have at least two (2) years' experience as a Journeyperson in either off-road equipment and/or on-road vehicles or equivalent.
  • Prior teaching or training experience in adult education is an asset.
  • Experience with Office 365 (MS Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint) and videoconferencing technology (MS Teams or Zoom) is preferred.
  • Fluent in English reading and vocabulary, with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
