Phlebotomy Specialist

Job Summary
The University Health Network is seeking a skilled Phlebotomist to join our Laboratory Medicine Program. As a Phlebotomist, you will be responsible for performing venipuncture and ECG on inpatients throughout the UHN's Rehabilitation and Complex Care sites.
About the Role
This is a permanent part-time position working 20 hours per week. The successful candidate will have a strong background in laboratory procedures, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform venipuncture and ECG on inpatients
- Organize and arrange transport of specimens
- Practice and provide patient-centered care
- Use hospital information systems to access and document procedures
- Participate in training of staff
- Maintain adequate supply stocks
- Adhere to safe working environment and comply with IPAC
Requirements
- Completion of Grade 12 or recognized equivalent
- Graduate of a post-secondary Laboratory Technician or Laboratory Assistant certificate program or recognized equivalent
- OSMT or CSMLS license preferred
- Minimum one year related work experience in a laboratory setting
- Minimum one year recent work experience in venipuncture, ECG, and specimen management
- Effective organizational, time management, and prioritization skills
- Effective verbal and written communication skills
- Understanding of appropriate behavior required working successfully in a diverse work group
- Knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety Procedures in a laboratory
- Computer literate in Windows-based applications
- Ability to work effectively as a team member
- Ability to work accurately under stressful conditions
