Position Overview:
Baker Tilly Ottawa LLP has established itself as a trusted provider of financial advisory, accounting, assurance, tax, and business advisory services in the Ottawa region for several decades. We are currently seeking a dedicated and experienced professional to enhance our tax services team. This role is pivotal in ensuring that our clients receive exceptional service, addressing their tax compliance needs, and identifying tax planning opportunities while resolving complex tax issues.
Key Responsibilities:
- Review and ensure accuracy in tax filings (including T1, T2, T3, and T5013 returns) prepared by staff.
- Provide strategic tax planning services to clients.
- Conduct research on tax-related issues and prepare comprehensive memoranda.
- Identify and develop client service opportunities.
- Engage in special projects and initiatives.
- Foster and strengthen community relationships and networks.
- Supervise and mentor staff within the tax group, offering guidance and support to enhance their expertise.
- Prepare and deliver technical training sessions for team members.
Qualifications:
- A minimum of 3 to 5 years of progressive experience in public accounting with a focus on taxation, along with a relevant professional designation.
- Completion or progress towards the CICA In-depth tax course.
- Strong technical knowledge of Canadian tax regulations.
- Proven ability to deliver value-added services to clients.
- Familiarity with GAAP requirements for tax provisions.
- Proficiency in software such as Caseware and Taxprep.
- Excellent understanding of client-focused environments and the ability to meet deadlines.
- Strong judgment regarding confidential matters.
- Exceptional interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
- Attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy.
- A strong work ethic, capable of working independently as well as collaboratively.
