Job Title: Corporate Tax Senior

The Senior Tax Professional will be a key member of Telesat's tax team, responsible for assisting with various aspects of domestic and international tax compliance, quarterly tax provision preparation, and tax planning and audit activities.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Preparation of corporate tax filings in Canada, ensuring accuracy and compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Preparation of required supporting documentation for Telesat's tax filing positions, including analysis and interpretation of tax laws and regulations.
  • Preparation of the quarterly tax provision and related note disclosure on a consolidated basis, and provision of expert advice to external financial statement auditors as required.
  • Assistance with foreign tax compliance and related projects, including research and analysis of international tax laws and regulations.
  • Support for tax audit defense activities, including direct and indirect tax, federal, provincial, and international.
  • Investigation and interpretation of new accounting transactions to determine Canadian income tax implications, and provision of expert advice to internal stakeholders.
  • Review, interpretation, and modeling of new tax legislation globally, and assessment of its impact on Telesat's tax obligations.
  • Assistance with preparation of contemporaneous transfer pricing documentation, and provision of expert advice to internal stakeholders.
  • Assistance with developing internal control processes within the tax function, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and best practices.
  • Act as a resource to internal departments, providing expert advice on tax-related matters and ensuring alignment with Telesat's tax strategy.
Requirements:
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in Canadian tax, with a strong understanding of tax laws and regulations.
  • University Degree in Finance, Economics, or Business with an Accounting designation, and completion of the CPA In-depth Tax Course.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills, with the ability to plan, coordinate, and set priorities to ensure timely completion of all assigned tasks.

The successful candidate must be able to work in Canada and obtain clearance under the Canadian Controlled Goods program (CGP).
