POSITION SUMMARY

The role of Estimator is crucial for the timely costing and processing of customer quotations within the Sales Department. This position also extends technical support to both the Sales team and the Design Engineering department, reporting directly to the VP of Sales.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Developing layouts and mold concepts in CAD to accurately reflect specific customer design requirements.
  • Collaborating closely with the Sales team to formulate quotes that lead to profitable orders.
  • Preparing prompt estimates of material, labor, and equipment costs for manufacturing projects based on provided drawings and customer specifications.
  • Possessing familiarity with all manufacturing processes within the plant to ensure precise quoting.
  • Reviewing and revising layouts and process changes to pricing in light of new information.
  • Negotiating project costs related to machining services, vendors, and subcontractors.
  • Effectively communicating technical aspects of mold concepts and designs to sales and engineering teams.
  • Working cross-functionally with sales, engineering, manufacturing, planning, scheduling, and supply chain teams to identify and resolve manufacturing and costing challenges.
  • Participating as a key member in P.C.M.S review meetings to ensure financial targets are met.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

TECHNICAL KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE

  • Post-secondary education in Mechanical Engineering Degree/Diploma preferred.
  • A minimum of 5 years of recent experience in an estimating role within the Injection Mold Industry.
  • Experience with thin wall, closure, and/or custom injection molds.
  • Strong background in mold assembly design, capable of creating mold concepts using CAD (2D-3D) technology, with Unigraphics NX preferred.
  • Exposure to machining practices, process planning, and subcontracting experience for quoting.
  • Solid understanding of business concepts, including gross margins, currency conversion, and job costing.
  • Intermediate proficiency with MS Excel.
