StackTeck Systems Ltd. has dedicated R&D, testing, and part sampling facilities, in addition to plastic part design, prototyping, engineering, and manufacturing capabilities.

The company is located in a strategic location, close to major transportation hubs.

Job Summary

The Estimator position is responsible for providing accurate and timely cost estimates for customer quotes, working closely with the Sales Department to ensure profitable orders.

This role requires strong technical knowledge and analytical skills to review and revise estimates based on new information, as well as effective communication skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Sales, Engineering, Manufacturing, Planning, Scheduling, and Supply Chain.

Key Responsibilities

  • Creating detailed layouts and mold concepts in CAD to estimate costs and reflect customer design requests
  • Working closely with the Sales team to develop quotes that result in profitable orders
  • Preparing timely estimates of costs of materials, labor, and equipment for manufacturing projects, based on supplied drawings and customer specifications
  • Familiarity with all manufacturing processes in the plant to ensure accurate quoting
  • Reviewing and revising layout and process changes to pricing based on new information
  • Negotiating project costs as it relates to machining services, vendors, and/or subcontractors
  • Communicating technical aspects of mold concept/design to sales and engineering teams
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams to identify and resolve manufacturing and costing issues
  • Participating in P.C.M.S review meetings to ensure financial targets are achievable

Minimum Qualifications

  • Post-Secondary education – Mechanical Engineering Degree/Diploma preferred
  • Minimum 5 years' recent experience in an estimating role within the Injection Mold Industry
  • Experience in thin wall, closure, and/or other custom injection molds
  • Strong experience in mold assembly design, capable of producing mold concepts using CAD (2D-3D) technology
  • Unigraphics NX preferred
  • Exposure to machining practices, process planning, and sub-contracting experience for quoting
  • Strong understanding of business concepts; gross margins, currency conversion, job costing
  • Intermediate level competency with MS Excel
