Position Overview:

This position plays a vital role in the collaboration between Conestoga College and the Education Quality and Accountability Office (EQAO) to facilitate the administration of the provincial Math Proficiency Test (MPT) for prospective educators. The primary responsibility of the MPT Test Centre Officer is to provide essential support to test takers and assist invigilators in managing immediate concerns during the testing process.

Work Schedule: The role entails a commitment of 20 hours per week, with the potential to extend to 24 hours weekly, during all academic terms. Availability is required from early morning until late evening, Monday through Saturday. Candidates must be prepared to perform duties on campus as necessary.

Key Responsibilities:

Service Delivery:

  • Manage a high volume of inquiries from stakeholders regarding testing processes and scheduling.
  • Provide accurate and timely information to a diverse range of stakeholders in a customer-facing environment.
  • Serve as the initial point of contact for MPT candidates, including those needing accommodations for disabilities.
  • Evaluate inquiries and determine the urgency of needs, addressing urgent situations effectively.
  • Collaborate with team members to enhance workflow processes continuously.
  • Participate in the invigilation of tests on a rotating basis with colleagues, including evenings and weekends.
  • Monitor communication channels to ensure service levels are maintained.
  • Coordinate with external partners to clarify and improve service delivery.
  • Share responsibilities for pre- and post-test administration, addressing process-related questions and troubleshooting common issues.
  • Assist users experiencing technical difficulties with the testing platform.
  • Report significant issues to management or appropriate support staff.

Administrative and Communication Duties:

  • Act as the primary contact for communications regarding MPT administration post-student booking.
  • May serve as the administrator and main liaison for the testing platform vendor to ensure efficient testing operations.
  • Track relevant statistics, draft schedules, and follow up with external testing partners.
  • Support the updating of departmental documentation, including manuals and standard operating procedures.
  • Assist the Administrator in coordinating invigilation teams as needed.
  • Help create weekly draft schedules for additional staff for managerial approval.
  • Work with other college personnel for technical support as required.
Qualifications:
  • A two-year diploma in Office Administration, Business Administration, or a related discipline is essential.
  • A minimum of two years of experience in a high-volume office setting with a focus on customer service is required.
  • Strong customer service skills to effectively engage with a diverse range of stakeholders.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with the capacity to build relationships and maintain confidentiality.
  • Ability to provide exceptional customer service, anticipate needs, and make informed decisions.
  • Outstanding organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • High proficiency in computer applications and adaptability to new technologies.
  • Sound judgment and strong problem-solving capabilities.
  • A collaborative team player committed to fostering a teamwork-oriented environment.
