Machine Learning Researcher for Mathematical Physics

We are seeking a highly qualified researcher to join our team as an Assistant Professor in Applied Mathematics, with a focus on Machine Learning for Mathematical Physics. The successful candidate will be a faculty member in Applied Mathematics at the University of Waterloo and will spend 50% of their time as an Associate at the Perimeter Institute.
Research Areas of InterestWe are particularly interested in outstanding researchers with interests related to one or more of the following areas:
- Machine learning for quantum physics and quantum computing
- Quantum machine learning
- Intersection of machine learning and quantum matter or condensed matter theory
- Machine learning for other areas of mathematical or theoretical physics
The incumbent will be responsible for:
- Teaching at both the undergraduate and graduate level
- Supervising graduate research
- Conducting research in machine learning for mathematical physics
We are looking for applicants with a PhD or equivalent in Applied Mathematics, Theoretical Physics, or a related field. The successful candidate will have a strong research record and a demonstrated ability to teach and supervise graduate students.

We offer a competitive salary range of $110,000-$160,000 CAD, commensurate with qualifications, experience, and research record.
