Job Overview: Educational Support Coordinator

The University of Waterloo is seeking an Educational Support Coordinator to enhance the instructional experience within the Department of Statistics and Actuarial Science. In this pivotal role, you will oversee a variety of instructional support functions, ensuring the smooth operation of both large and medium-sized courses. Your responsibilities will encompass administrative coordination, management of Teaching Assistants, and the provision of academic support to students and faculty alike.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee course operations and manage a substantial team of Teaching Assistants.
  • Address and manage Policy 30-related matters.
  • Assess and determine grading requirements for various courses.
  • Organize and supervise Teaching Assistants in the Tutorial Centre.
  • Administer TA contracts and coordinate their office hours.
  • Facilitate faculty teaching and support student academic endeavors.
  • Oversee grading processes for courses.
  • Recognize and implement technologies relevant to online education.
  • Deliver course instruction services as needed.

Required Qualifications:

  • A Master's Degree in Mathematics or a Bachelor's degree accompanied by relevant professional experience.
  • Proven ability to teach at the university level.
  • Significant experience in tutoring and providing instructional support.
  • Strong communication and time management capabilities.
  • Demonstrated interpersonal skills and relationship management expertise.
  • Capacity to work autonomously as well as collaboratively within a team.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
