Position Overview

The IT Project Manager is responsible for the comprehensive execution of project methodologies and deliverables in accordance with the project framework. This includes aspects such as planning, budgeting, communication, stakeholder engagement, risk and issue management, and scope control.

Key Responsibilities

The Project Manager collaborates closely with IT project teams, development and delivery groups, as well as business stakeholders to ensure that projects are executed in a manner that meets business goals while adhering to a structured project management approach. This guarantees that the implemented solutions are both maintainable and sustainable.

Core Duties Include:

  • Managing multiple IT projects simultaneously while ensuring customer satisfaction and acceptance of solutions through consistent application of project management practices.
  • Collaborating with all stakeholders to ensure project delivery aligns with the approved scope, budget, schedule, and quality standards.
  • Developing comprehensive project plans, determining resource needs, and monitoring project phases while prioritizing issues and assignments for the project team.
  • Conducting risk identification and mitigation activities, escalating unresolved issues to stakeholders and the Executive Steering Committee for timely resolution.
  • Providing effective communication, including status updates, ongoing risk and issue assessments, and timely resolution of emerging challenges.
  • Facilitating project governance and gating processes.
  • Building strong working relationships with key departments within the organization to ensure effective communication and management of initiatives.
  • Demonstrating high-level interpersonal and negotiation skills in communications.
  • Creating a positive work atmosphere that fosters optimal individual and team performance by clearly defining project objectives, recognizing contributions, and motivating team members.
  • Supporting the consolidation of project information for summary reviews and analysis, and providing project management metrics for IT initiatives.

Required Skills and Competencies

  • Proven track record in managing multiple projects or delivering medium-scale projects with budgets ranging from $K to $1M and durations of 3 to 9 months, characterized by medium risk and complexity.
  • Experience with at least three complete project development life cycles.
  • Proficient in managing projects involving 10 to 25 team members.
  • Experience in overseeing project deliverables from at least two third-party vendors.
  • Strong analytical, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Detail-oriented with expertise in conflict resolution.
  • Excellent project analysis, planning, and management skills.
  • Change management proficiency.
  • Strong customer-oriented mindset.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence management and cross-divisional teams to achieve project goals.

Working Environment

  • This role is performed in a standard office setting.
  • Responsibilities may require prolonged periods of sitting and focused visual attention on computer screens or detailed data.
  • Occasional travel may be necessary.

Experience and Education

  • 7 to 10 years of relevant experience in project management.
  • Post-secondary education or a university degree in a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Project Management Certification is advantageous.
