Job Title: Food Safety Sales Specialist

Join our team as a Food Safety Sales Specialist and take on a challenging role that requires a strong understanding of the food industry and food processing. As a sales professional, you will be responsible for promoting innovative products and customized service models to customers.

Job Responsibilities
  1. Build a solid understanding of our client's value proposition, customers' business objectives, and applicable government regulations to promote innovative products and customized service models.
  2. Develop and coordinate strategies with the sales and marketing department to increase sales growth and retain current customers.
  3. Identify new opportunities by prospecting for new business and conducting sales calls.
  4. Build profitable sales in an assigned territory through additional sales with current customers and demonstrate commitment to prospecting and new business development.
  5. Develop strong relationships and networks to increase industry knowledge, sales growth, and customer satisfaction, notably by participating in industry associations.
  6. Understand customers' processes and procedures and partner with customers to identify and implement unique hygiene solutions that maximize plant efficiency.
  7. Provide expertise to customers to improve sanitation, safety, quality, and operations, including assistance with sanitation plans & programs, standard operating procedures, and employee training.
  8. Coordinate and provide technical support and consultation services to increase overall value to the customer.
  9. Communicate effectively with all levels of plant staff.
  10. Collaborate with customer service, purchasing, and operations to inform them of account activity and any actions required to optimally service the customer.
Requirements
  • 3+ years of experience in a sales role.
  • Experience in technical, food & beverage processing, or chemical industry sales.
  • Experience with CIP, food safety, plant, or sanitation programs. A strong understanding of the food industry and food processing is also necessary.
  • Degree in Sales & Marketing, a degree in dairy food, agricultural science, chemistry, or biology will be valued.
  • Proven ability to cultivate an extensive network of contacts and develop trusting relationships.
  • Knowledge of CRM platforms and the Office suite.
  • Strong business sense, and understanding of business relationships between manufacturers, distributors, and end-users.
  • Knowledge of direct sales techniques.
  • Excellent listening skills and problem-solving abilities to uncover the needs and motivations and overcome objections to close a sale.
  • Effective negotiating skills that make customers realize the appropriate value for products and services.
  • Ability to manage time and resources to achieve goals.
  • Exceptional interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills.
