We are seeking a Food Safety and Quality Assurance Specialist to become a vital part of our team.

The Food Safety and Quality Assurance Specialist will collaborate with various departments to uphold rigorous quality control standards. This role involves maintaining essential documentation, quality records, and conducting thorough quality assessments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and sustain the organization's food safety protocols (GMPs, HACCP, and SQF).
  • Manage and update additional certification initiatives (such as Organic and Kosher).
  • Supervise sanitation and hygiene practices, ensuring compliance with quality regulations and food safety laws.
  • Evaluate and confirm the monitoring activities of Quality Technicians.
  • Assess the effectiveness of cleaning procedures, including allergen testing, and maintain comprehensive documentation.
  • Support operational and quality efforts to ensure a constant state of audit readiness.
  • Conduct regular audits of food safety practices to objectively assess performance and provide necessary feedback to staff.
  • Assist in the development and maintenance of the food safety training program for plant personnel.
  • Deliver training sessions to employees and contractors as needed.
  • Lead audits conducted by certification bodies, independent third parties, and regulatory agencies, providing required documentation for review.
  • Investigate customer feedback, audit results, and food safety incidents, identifying root causes and implementing corrective actions.
  • Facilitate the documentation and tracking of food safety incidents to ensure timely investigations and thorough records.
  • Collaborate with Quality Technicians to provide backup support when necessary.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Qualifications

  • A relevant college diploma or university degree, such as a BSc, or equivalent experience.
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in managing a Food Safety Program.
  • Certifications in SQF internal auditing and HACCP fundamentals or equivalent training.
  • Experience leading Food Safety Audits is preferred.
  • A friendly, confident, and positive demeanor.
  • Strong presentation abilities.
  • Capacity to manage multiple projects effectively.
  • Excellent organizational, time management, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and follow directions.
  • Proficiency in Excel, Word, Outlook, and familiarity with web-based applications.
  • Commitment to staying updated on technological advancements.
  • Team-oriented with strong communication skills, curiosity, and efficiency.
