Job Title: Food Safety Sales Specialist

Our client, a world leader in biosecurity and food safety, is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Food Safety Sales Specialist to join their team.

About the Company:

Our client operates in over 120 countries with a global presence, providing value-added products and solutions to prevent animal and human disease and contamination at every stage of the food supply chain.

They are a manufacturer of sanitation and disinfection solutions for the food and beverage manufacturing and the food service industries, driving innovation through R&D in their state-of-the-art facility in Canada.

About the Opportunity:

This is an exciting opportunity for a sales professional to build a solid understanding of our client's value proposition, customers' business objectives, and applicable government regulations to promote innovative products and customized service models.

The successful candidate will develop and coordinate strategies with the sales and marketing department to increase sales growth and retain current customers, identifying new opportunities by prospecting for new business and conducting sales calls.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Build profitable sales in an assigned territory through additional sales with current customers and demonstrate commitment to prospecting and new business development.
  • Develop strong relationships and networks to increase industry knowledge, sales growth, and customer satisfaction, notably by participating in industry associations.
  • Understand customers' processes and procedures and partner with customers to identify and implement unique hygiene solutions that maximize plant efficiency.
  • Provide expertise to customers to improve sanitation, safety, quality, and operations, including assistance with sanitation plans & programs, standard operating procedures, and employee training.
  • Coordinate and provide technical support and consultation services to increase overall value to the customer.

Requirements:

  • 3+ years of experience in a sales role.
  • Experience in technical, food & beverage processing, or chemical industry sales.
  • Experience with CIP, food safety, plant, or sanitation programs.
  • Degree in Sales & Marketing, a degree in dairy food, agricultural science, chemistry, or biology will be valued.
  • Proven ability to cultivate an extensive network of contacts and develop trusting relationships.
  • Knowledge of CRM platforms and the Office suite.
  • Strong business sense, and understanding of business relationships between manufacturers, distributors, and end-users.
  • Knowledge of direct sales techniques.
  • Excellent listening skills and problem-solving abilities to uncover the needs and motivations and overcome objections to close a sale.
  • Effective negotiating skills that make customers realize the appropriate value for products and services.
  • Ability to manage time and resources to achieve goals.
  • Exceptional interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills.
