Position Overview

As a Heavy Equipment Operator at GS Construction, you will be responsible for operating various types of machinery in a dynamic work environment. This role demands a high level of skill and attention to detail to ensure safety and efficiency on the job site.

Qualifications
  • Education: No formal degree, certificate, or diploma required.
  • Experience: 1 to 2 years of relevant experience preferred.
Work Environment
  • Work is primarily conducted outdoors.
  • Conditions may include dusty and hazardous environments.
Job Responsibilities
  • Operate heavy machinery including backhoe excavators and loaders.
  • Perform routine maintenance such as cleaning, lubricating, and refilling equipment.
  • Conduct pre-operational checks to ensure equipment is in safe working condition.
  • Document and prepare reports for any accidents or incidents.
  • Attach special equipment as necessary for specific tasks.
  • Utilize two-way radios and other communication devices effectively.
  • Carry out minor repairs on machinery as needed.
Areas of Expertise
  • Experience in ditching, excavation, and material handling.
  • Familiarity with sloping and banking techniques.
Industry Experience

Ideal candidates will have a background in Industrial, Commercial, and Institutional (ICI) construction.

Safety and Security
  • Successful candidates will be required to pass a drug test.
Travel Requirements

Travel expenses will be covered by the employer.

Physical Demands
  • This position is physically demanding and requires a strong attention to detail.
  • Work may be fast-paced with potential for overtime.
  • Ability to lift weights up to 23 kg (50 lbs) is necessary.
Tools and Equipment

Steel-toed safety boots are required for this position.
