Position Overview

WPI Canada is seeking a dedicated Heavy Equipment Mechanic Assistant to join our team. This is a permanent position that requires a commitment of 30 to 40 hours per week. The ideal candidate will have 1 to 2 years of relevant experience in a similar role.

Work Environment

The successful applicant will work in a challenging environment that includes:

Key Responsibilities

As a Heavy Equipment Mechanic Assistant, your primary duties will include:

  • Transporting tools, machinery, and materials as needed
  • Assisting skilled tradespeople and apprentices with their tasks
  • Cleaning machinery and maintaining a tidy work area
  • Conducting repairs and routine maintenance on equipment
  • Performing various labor-intensive tasks as directed
  • Supporting mechanics in operational, repair, and maintenance activities
  • Installing machinery and equipment as required
Required Experience

Applicants should have experience in:

  • Installation of heavy machinery
  • Maintenance and repair tasks
  • Working with industrial instruments
  • Engine repair and overhaul
Physical Requirements

This role demands:

  • Physical stamina and strength to handle heavy loads (up to 23 kg (50 lbs))
  • Manual dexterity and the ability to perform a combination of sitting, standing, and walking
  • Bending, crouching, and kneeling as necessary
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage a large workload
Tools and Equipment
