POSITION SUMMARY

The Facilities Maintenance Technician III is tasked with executing maintenance and repair tasks, both routine and on-demand, on non-technical facility elements (general handyman responsibilities such as walls, floors, etc.). This role also involves adhering to established procedures and regulations, ensuring compliance with both internal and external standards, including environmental, health and safety, and fire protection protocols.

In this role, you will:

  • Maintain and repair non-technical facility elements
  • Show a willingness to pursue and complete a trades certification or license, or may already be enrolled in such a program

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Execute tasks in line with established processes and practices
  • Adhere to all internal and external regulations, including those related to environmental, health and safety, and fire protection
  • Conduct regular inspections and monitoring of facility and non-technical components
  • Provide insights regarding facility conditions and deficiencies, along with recommendations for improvements and repairs
  • Monitor assigned facilities through walkthroughs and inspections
  • Address routine and urgent service requests
  • Perform preventative maintenance and repair work on non-technical components within the facility
  • Document resolution data in the service maintenance management database, ensuring all work meets quality and contractual standards
  • Track, monitor, and report the status of maintenance and repair tasks within the service maintenance management database, initiating documentation for formal work approvals
  • Assist in implementing the preventative maintenance (PM) program, ensuring deficiencies are identified, recorded, and escalated, with related documentation maintained
  • Participate in and support facility-related projects
  • Ensure compliance with corporate and legislative policies, procedures, and guidelines related to environmental, health and safety, fire protection, and other applicable requirements
  • Maintain all assigned tools and arrange for repairs or replacements as necessary
  • Submit all expenses promptly
  • Contribute to enhancing tenant and customer satisfaction through the quality of work performed and services delivered
  • Perform other duties as assigned

WORK REQUIREMENTS

  • Must be willing to wear personal protective equipment

MINIMUM EDUCATION: High school diploma

JOB-RELATED EXPERIENCE: Minimum of 1-3 years

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS

  • 1-3 years of experience in facility operations and maintenance
  • High school diploma required
  • Trade-related training is an asset
  • Ability to follow and effectively execute processes and practices related to facility operations and maintenance
  • Proficient in maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing non-technical facility components
  • Capable of providing observations about facility conditions and deficiencies, along with suggestions for enhancements and repairs
  • Ability to research and gain proficiency in applying fire, life, safety, and building codes and standards
  • Strong environmental, health, and safety mindset, with a commitment to safe work practices
  • Excellent client-service orientation with a high sense of urgency
  • Effective communication skills for data relay, exchange, feedback, and clarification

LICENSES AND/OR PROFESSIONAL ACCREDITATION

  • Demonstrates interest in pursuing and completing a trades certification or license, or is actively working towards it
  • Valid driver's license required
