About the Role
The Facilities Maintenance Technician is a key member of our team at BGIS, responsible for performing maintenance and repair services on non-technical facility components. This includes general handyman-type work such as walls, floors, and other non-technical components.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain and repair non-technical facility components
- Perform work in accordance with established processes and practices
- Comply with internal and external requirements, including environmental, health and safety, and fire protection
- Conduct regular facility and facility non-technical component monitoring and inspection
- Provide observations about facility conditions and deficiencies, and suggest enhancements and repairs
- Respond to routine and on-demand service requests
- Perform preventative maintenance and repair work on non-technical components
- Record resolution data in the service maintenance management database
- Assist in the implementation of preventative maintenance programs
- Participate in facility-related projects
- Ensure work is performed in compliance with corporate and legislated policies, procedures, and guidelines
Requirements
- High school education
- Minimum 1-3 years of facility operations and maintenance work experience
- Trade-related training an asset
- Ability to adhere to and execute processes and practices related to facility operations and maintenance
- Ability to maintain, troubleshoot, and repair non-technical facility components
- Ability to provide observations about facility conditions and deficiencies, and suggest enhancements and repairs
- Ability to research, learn, and gain proficiency in applying on-the-job fire, life, safety, and building codes and standards
- Strong environmental, health, and safety mindset
- Strong client-service orientation and sense of urgency
- Effective communication skills
Licenses and/or Professional Accreditation
- Demonstrates an interest in enrolling and completing a trades certification or license
- Valid driver's license
