Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Project Manager to join our team at the University of Waterloo. As a key member of our Facilities Operations department, you will be responsible for the management of design and construction projects, ensuring they are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage multiple design and construction projects, from programming and design through construction and close out.
  • Develop and implement project plans, budgets, and schedules, ensuring compliance with University standards and regulations.
  • Coordinate with internal stakeholders, including architects, engineers, and contractors, to ensure project requirements are met.
  • Provide technical oversight and guidance to ensure projects are delivered safely, efficiently, and effectively.
  • Communicate project status and progress to stakeholders, including financial tracking, scheduling, and performance.
  • Support the development of cost estimating best practices and unit price database within the department.
  • Conduct research on industry trends and equipment to stay up-to-date with best practices.
  • Manage and maintain official project records, including budgets, schedules, submittals, specifications, and operating & maintenance manuals.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Architecture, Engineering, or related field.
  • Professional license or designation corresponding to the education obtained (e.g., OAA, P.Eng.).
  • Minimum four (4) years demonstrated experience managing multiple complex construction projects within a major building sector.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Strong communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to effectively interact with University staff, consultants, contractors, and external agencies.
  • Ability to produce status reports, prepare presentations, and communicate clearly both verbally and in writing.
  • Computer literacy utilizing MS Office software applications, with experience in project management software (e.g., MS Project, Primavera).
