Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Development Planner to join our team at Acord (Association For Cooperative Operations Research And Development). As a key member of our planning department, you will be responsible for managing development application files and facilitating the planning process.

Key Responsibilities
  • Development Application Management: Process a variety of development application types, review new applications for accuracy and completion, and ensure conformity to applicable planning policy and other City regulations and practices.
  • Communication and Coordination: Coordinate circulation of development applications, manage responses from internal departments and external agencies, and communicate issues and concerns to applicants.
  • Reporting and Presentations: Prepare staff reports, planning/legal instruments, and planning comments for various stakeholders, and present development proposals at Council Public Meetings.
  • Research and Analysis: Conduct research, background review, and follow up with customers as necessary to ensure accurate and complete development applications.
  • Committee Support: Chair Planner Committee of Adjustment meetings, attend Committee of Adjustment meetings as staff representative, and provide expert opinion in support of staff's position on each application.
Requirements
  • Education: Degree in Urban or Regional Planning or related discipline.
  • Experience: 4 years of planning experience.
  • Skills: Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe, Palis, OCE Web, ABC docs; conflict resolution and negotiation skills; analytical thinking and research skills; knowledge of the Ontario Planning Act, provincial plans, and other related legislation.
