Job Summary

The Maintenance Planner will play a critical role in ensuring the efficient execution of maintenance activities within the maintenance department. This individual will work closely with production scheduling, production operations, quality control, and procurement/stores departments to optimize maintenance productivity and minimize production disruptions.

Key Responsibilities
  1. The Maintenance Planner will serve as a technical professional in the area of preventive maintenance planning and scheduling, and will be the primary contact for all related activities/issues at their respective site.
  2. They will be responsible for resolving scheduling/planning conflicts with all stakeholders, including production, facilities, and research and development.
  3. The Maintenance Planner will ensure that materials required for preventive maintenance are available and prepared prior to planning activities, through relationships with the personnel operating the central stores.
  4. They will review the proposed plan each week with supervisors to assign work to trades, and communicate the plan to all affected groups and other planners to ensure alignment of the business with the plan.
  5. The Maintenance Planner will maintain documented visibility of all aspects of the preventive maintenance planning system, including performance metrics such as completion rates, excursions, exceptions, and opportunities for improvement.
  6. They will be responsible for the evolution of the task list associated with preventive maintenance, through liaison with reliability engineering, deviation investigators, and other subject matter experts.
  7. The Maintenance Planner will participate in the development of total life-cycle management for all assets, and provide recommendations to the business for replacement/retirement of assets based on data maintained by reliability, investigations, and subject matter experts.
  8. They will develop working relationships with peers in production planning, supply chain, and new product launch to maintain a broad perspective of approaching challenges related to equipment reliability.
  9. The Maintenance Planner will be responsible for ensuring their own professional development in cooperation and consultation with management.
  10. They will participate in new capital engineering efforts to ensure seamless integration into the preventive maintenance system.
  11. The Maintenance Planner will work closely with the SAP PM Master Data Maintainer to update SAP master data and respond to queries from internal clients regarding preventive maintenance planning.
  12. They will recommend improvements to technology to enhance compliance and effectiveness, including cost savings.
  13. The Maintenance Planner will act as a backup to the project leader, reliability.
  14. They will work as a member of a team to achieve all outcomes.
  15. The Maintenance Planner will perform all work in support of Apotex's corporate values of pride, accountability, integrity, and diligence, and demonstrate strong and visible support of these values.
  16. They will perform all work in accordance with established regulatory and compliance requirements.
Requirements
  • College diploma in an engineering discipline, tradesperson, or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 5 years of related experience, preferably in the pharmaceutical industry.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills are essential.
  • Previous experience with SAP software PM module is essential.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving and decision-making ability.
  • Working knowledge of Word, Excel, and Outlook is essential.
