Position Overview

The Environmental Services Support Specialist (ESSS) plays a crucial role in ensuring a hygienic and secure atmosphere for patients, visitors, and healthcare personnel. This position encompasses waste management responsibilities and provides essential support to the Orillia Soldiers' Memorial Hospital, aligning with the goals and principles of Environmental Services.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain cleanliness and safety throughout the hospital premises.
  • Manage waste disposal effectively and in accordance with established protocols.
  • Utilize appropriate materials and equipment in line with hospital standards.

Qualifications

  • Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent educational background.
  • At least one year of experience in a hospital janitorial role is preferred.
  • Experience in floor refinishing and carpet cleaning is advantageous.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills in English are essential.
  • Ability to work independently while adhering to policies and procedures.
  • Flexibility to adapt to varying departmental requirements.
  • Knowledge of safe chemical handling and storage practices.
  • Proficient in organizing, prioritizing, and multitasking effectively.
  • Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and professionalism.
  • Ability to follow detailed instructions while upholding infection control standards.
  • Physical capability to perform repetitive tasks, including lifting, pushing, and walking for extended periods.
