The Opportunity:

The HACCP Specialist will play a critical role in ensuring the plant's ability to demonstrate ongoing compliance with regulatory requirements. This includes managing and maintaining the HACCP system, liaising with the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) regarding HACCP-related issues, and ensuring that all necessary documents are reviewed and revised as scheduled.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Function as the backup to the FSQA Supervisor as required
  • Maintain HACCP documents and ensure compliance with the written program
  • Liaise with stakeholders to develop and implement Standard Operating Procedures
  • Ensure new policies and procedures are implemented with proper documentation
  • Manage the corrective action program to reduce repeat deficiencies and deviations
  • Ensure the plant is in compliance with the written program on an ongoing basis
  • Act as the Point of Contact for CFIA on Preventive Control Plan (PCP) and Standard Inspection Process (SIP) issues
  • Provide timely and effective feedback to stakeholders as required
  • Implement and maintain a compliance reporting system to track plant compliance
  • Liaise with FSQA Technicians to maintain document control and ensure compliance
  • Maintain current knowledge of regulatory changes and industry standards

Requirements:

  • Bachelor of Science or Diploma in Food Safety/Science program or equivalent experience
  • Strong understanding of Sanitation, SOPs, Pre-requisite Programs, HACCP, CCPs, and GMPs
  • HACCP I-II certificate
  • Strong supervisory and leadership skills
  • 2-3 years experience in the Food industry is preferred
  • Computer proficiency with spreadsheet and database software
