Key Responsibilities:

  • Reporting to the Planning Supervisor, you will oversee critical decisions regarding field assessments, project scoping, cost estimation, and documentation related to customer service and capital projects.
  • Your duties will include planning and coordinating maintenance and construction activities effectively, ensuring they are completed on time and within budget, utilizing advanced software tools.
  • You will liaise with customers, various departments, external agencies, and contractors to maximize resource utilization while minimizing service disruptions.
  • Conducting inspections of distribution systems, identifying project requirements, and providing detailed cost estimates will be part of your responsibilities.
  • Flexibility to assist in different locations as needed and willingness to travel as required.
  • Initiating and processing job orders while ensuring compliance with company standards and regulations will be expected.
  • Participation in training programs to enhance skills and knowledge is encouraged.
  • Ensuring personal and team safety by adhering to all health and safety regulations is paramount.
  • You will be accountable for environmental performance in relation to the company’s management systems.
  • This position is classified as safety-sensitive, necessitating compliance with the company’s alcohol and drug policy.
  • Flexibility to work across various territories and the requirement to be available for emergency services.
  • Participation in standby duties on a rotational basis is expected.

Qualifications:

To excel in this position, candidates should possess the following qualifications:

  • A minimum of a Grade XII education or equivalent is required. Candidates should have either an Inter-Provincial Red Seal Powerline Technician Certificate with relevant experience or be an Electrical Engineering Technologist with experience in transmission and distribution design.
  • Proficiency in computer applications is essential.
  • Familiarity with planning software for electric utility distribution systems is advantageous.
  • Adaptability and self-motivation are crucial for optimizing daily tasks.
  • Strong customer service and communication skills are necessary.
  • Experience in project management, with the ability to handle multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment, is required.
  • Knowledge of operational practices, contracts, and utility equipment is beneficial.
  • A valid driver’s license with a satisfactory driving record is mandatory.
  • Consideration for apprenticeship may be available for qualified candidates.
