Position Title: Director of Sales
Reports to: Vice President, Enterprise Sales – Commercial, US & Canada
Location: Within Canada (Hybrid) – preference for Greater Toronto Area
Position Overview
The Director of Sales will lead and shape the organization's sales strategy, driving sustainable revenue growth and enhancing market presence. This role is critical in guiding the sales team toward achieving ambitious goals by developing innovative strategies, fostering cross-functional collaboration, and ensuring the highest standards of customer engagement.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and oversee a comprehensive sales strategy that aligns with the company's overall business objectives and drives significant revenue growth.
- Set and monitor performance metrics to ensure the sales organization meets or exceeds its targets and remains competitive in the marketplace.
- Anticipate market trends and proactively adjust strategies to capitalize on emerging opportunities and mitigate risks.
- Partner with executive leadership to influence overall company strategy and ensure that the sales function is fully aligned with corporate goals.
- Engage with the Marketing, Product Development, and Operations teams to co-create innovative solutions that meet market demands and customer needs.
- Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing sales team, ensuring a culture of accountability, continuous learning, and excellence.
- Guide the team in developing and executing strategies to deepen customer engagement and expand market share.
- Identify and pursue new market opportunities, including exploring alternative sales channels and potential partnerships.
- Drive the development and rollout of new solutions and sales approaches, ensuring they meet evolving market conditions and customer requirements.
- Establish and maintain strong relationships with key customers, acting as a trusted advisor and ensuring long-term customer satisfaction and retention.
- Represent the company at industry events, trade shows, and customer meetings, enhancing the organization's visibility and reputation.
- Responsible for updating all the information, which is pertinent to the customer relationship, into the CRM tool.
Requirements
- 10+ years sales experience in prospecting, developing and closing leads for new business
- 5+ years in sales management experience leading a team
- Track record of overachieving sales targets
- Proven track record in SMB, Commercial/Mid-market and enterprise sales with B2B outside sales
- Independent decision making and accountability for execution of business objectives for all areas of responsibility
- Must be able to present multiple, integrated product/service solutions at various mid and high executive levels within large retail organizations.
- Knowledge of decision-making process and workflow of financial institutions and/or retail organizations is needed.
- Demonstrates outstanding communication and presentation skills and possesses the ability to articulate competitive differentiation.
- Bachelor degree required, preferably B.Com or equivalent combination of experience and training.
- Thorough understanding of sales and marketing with an emphasis on providing solutions is expected.
- Three or more years' experience with national customers preferred.
- Must have willingness to travel (typically within Canada, some US travel may be required)
- Incumbent must take a consultative approach when working with clients
