Job Title: Orientation and Mobility Specialist

At Vision Loss Rehabilitation Canada, we are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Orientation and Mobility Specialist to join our team. As an Orientation and Mobility Specialist, you will play a vital role in helping individuals with vision loss acquire the skills and confidence they need to navigate their daily lives.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct assessments and develop personalized orientation and mobility plans for individuals with vision loss.
  • Teach concept development, spatial awareness, and travel skills to individuals with vision loss.
  • Provide information and lessons on the use of electronic travel aids and tactile maps.
  • Act as a resource person for information regarding guide dog schools and accessible design.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation of client progress and service delivery.
Requirements:
  • Graduate of the Instructor for Blind and Visually Impaired Program or Diploma in Specialized Studies, O&M and Vision Rehabilitation.
  • ACVREP Certified Orientation & Mobility Specialist (COMS) certification.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Good command of relevant computer applications.
Work Environment:

This role will involve working in office centers, individual homes, and the community. The successful candidate will be required to travel and work flexible hours.
