Our District Highway Operations Division is essential in managing a variety of programs, functions, and activities across the province, including snow and ice control, road maintenance and repair, and the approval of various permits.

About the Role

Under the supervision of the District Director, the District Traffic Supervisor (DTS) serves as the District's representative on issues related to Transportation Engineering. The DTS will:

  • Formulate programs, establish priorities, and authorize the implementation of regulatory and warning devices.
  • Be accountable for strategic planning regarding specialized support for the District.
  • Report to the District Director on matters excluding the approval of regulatory devices (legal status).
  • Act as the Department's representative in court concerning traffic engineering issues.
Qualifications and Experience

Essential qualifications include:

  • A Diploma in Civil Engineering Technology or a comparable diploma program, accompanied by six (6) years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Completion of a Traffic Engineering Technicians course from a recognized institution is advantageous.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of traffic and transportation principles, along with traffic operational and control practices.
  • Proven expertise in the Transportation engineering field.
  • In-depth understanding of the Motor Vehicle Act Laws, Public Highway Act, MUTCD-geometric design standards, and traffic control manuals.
  • Familiarity with photography, surveying, and the technical operation of various Traffic Engineering Equipment, including radars and electronic slope indicators.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage public and interdepartmental relations effectively at local, regional, and provincial levels.
  • High level of tact, diplomacy, and communication skills to maintain credibility when interacting with various public and governmental entities.

We will evaluate the aforementioned qualifications and competencies through various methods, including written assessments, standardized tests, oral presentations, interviews, and reference checks.
