About Our Opportunity

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced District Traffic Supervisor to join our team at the Government of Nova Scotia. As a key member of our District Highway Operations Division, you will play a critical role in managing various programs, functions, and activities throughout our province.

Key Responsibilities
  • Represent the District on matters pertaining to Transportation Engineering
  • Develop programs, set priorities, and authorize approvals for the implementation of regulatory and warning devices
  • Implement strategic planning for the administration of specialized support for the District
  • Represent the Department in court in relation to traffic engineering matters
Qualifications and Experience

To be successful in this role, you will require:

  • A diploma in Civil Engineering Technology or another acceptable diploma program
  • At least six (6) years of experience in a related field, or an equivalent combination of training and experience
  • Broad expertise and understanding of traffic and transportation principles and traffic operational and traffic control operations and their practical applications
  • Thorough knowledge of Motor Vehicle Act Laws, Public Highway Act, MUTCD-geometric design standard, traffic control manuals, traffic operation manual, etc.

Working Conditions

This is a full-time position that requires split time between an office environment and travel throughout the province to visit work sites, review roads and bridges, and attend meetings in various weather conditions.
