Position Overview:

The University of Saskatchewan is seeking a dedicated Clinical Nurse Educator for our Family Medicine Department. This role is integral to our full-scope family practice clinical teaching unit.

The successful candidate will engage in a variety of responsibilities, including patient care, educational mentorship for Family Medicine residents and medical students, quality assurance initiatives, and nursing management tasks.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with faculty physicians, residents, and medical students to fulfill the educational objectives of the department while delivering exceptional patient-centered care.
  • Supervise medical office assistants and facilitate student-patient interactions.
  • Instruct College of Medicine learners in essential nursing procedural skills.
  • Support quality assurance and research initiatives led by faculty and students.
  • Utilize experience and knowledge to enhance patient care delivery.
  • Perform clinic triage functions and prioritize patient needs effectively.
  • Contribute to chronic disease management and quality assurance goals.
  • Oversee clinic staff and provide professional nursing guidance to patients and healthcare teams.
  • Foster professional relationships within an interdisciplinary primary health care environment.
  • Participate in clinic and laboratory quality assurance activities.
  • Efficiently manage the electronic medical record system.
  • Assist in maintaining inventory of medical supplies and perform various clinical and management duties associated with a busy outpatient family medical teaching practice.

Qualifications:

Applicants must possess an undergraduate degree in Nursing and hold a valid Registered Nurse designation. A minimum of five years of nursing experience in a family practice or equivalent ambulatory setting is required. Experience in nursing education is advantageous. Familiarity with electronic medical records is essential.


Work Environment:

This is a full-time position with standard working hours, Monday to Friday, from 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM, with potential for extended hours.
