Clinical Nurse Educator in Family Medicine

Position Overview: The University of Saskatchewan is seeking a dedicated Clinical Nurse Educator to join our Family Medicine Department. This role is integral to our clinical teaching unit, where you will engage in a variety of responsibilities aimed at enhancing patient care and educational outcomes.
Key Responsibilities: As a Clinical Nurse Educator, you will:
- Instruct medical learners in essential nursing procedures.
- Ensure patient safety within both educational and clinical environments.
- Contribute to quality assurance and research initiatives led by faculty and residents.
- Identify and support learners facing challenges in their training.
- Utilize your expertise to provide high-quality patient care.
- Manage clinic triage and prioritize patient needs effectively.
- Participate in chronic disease management and quality improvement projects.
- Oversee clinic staff and foster a collaborative work environment.
- Offer professional nursing guidance to patients and healthcare teams.
- Develop and maintain professional relationships in a multidisciplinary healthcare setting.
- Ensure the availability of necessary clinical supplies.
- Engage in clinic and laboratory quality assurance activities.
- Utilize electronic medical records efficiently.
- Assist in maintaining inventory and perform various clinical and administrative tasks.
Qualifications: Candidates must possess an undergraduate degree in Nursing and hold a valid registration with the Saskatchewan Registered Nurses Association. A minimum of five years of nursing experience in a family practice or outpatient setting is required, with prior experience in nursing education considered an asset. Experience in diverse and inclusive environments is essential.
Skills Required: Successful candidates will demonstrate confidentiality and adeptness in handling sensitive information. Strong communication skills are vital for interacting with a diverse range of individuals, including learners, patients, and colleagues. The role demands a commitment to academic scholarship in interdisciplinary primary health care and education, along with the ability to teach, assess, and work independently while contributing to team efforts.
