Job Summary

Mccormick & Co., Inc., a world leader in the spice, flavor, and seasonings industry, is seeking a full-time Category Manager to support one of its key customers as a Vendor Advisor. This new hire will work in the Canadian Consumer Products Division, located in the Mississauga office, and report to the Sr Category Manager.

Key Responsibilities
  • Understand industry, consumer, and category trends and translate those insights into actionable strategic business recommendations to achieve both Mccormick and customer goals and objectives.
  • Provide proactive analysis and shopper insight-driven recommendations against all key business drivers, and lead presentations related to category business reviews, assortment & space optimization, promotion & pricing effectiveness, and trade efficiency.
  • Leverage all the analytic tools available to identify customer opportunities.
  • Develop collaborative partnerships with key strategic customers so that Mccormick is viewed as the category leader in providing flavor solutions and category recommendations for the categories in which we compete.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Sales, Marketing, or other related field.
  • 6+ years of experience in Sales, Finance, Marketing, or Business Management.
  • 4+ years of customer/sales experience, including 2+ years in Category Management.
  • Must have a keen understanding of Field Sales and Retailer process in business analytics as well as distribution hurdles.
  • Creative problem-solving in the dynamic environment of retailers that includes knowledge of retails, products, vendors, materials, and common category management practices.
  • High-level strategic thinking as well as a broad category perspective in addition to the Mccormick & Co portfolio of products.
  • Familiarity with the Category Management process. Must have a strong knowledge of syndicated and panel data (e.g. Nielsen) as well as pricing, promotion, and assortment optimization software, and experience working with customer syndicated data systems such as LDIA, IRI, Dunnhumby, Retail Link.
  • Strong analytic skills and demonstrated ability to translate insights into actionable business recommendations that deliver positive results.
  • Excellent verbal and written presentation skills, with the ability to analyze and understand the data and then effectively communicate those insights to both internal and external audiences.
  • Ability to react quickly and complete tasks in a timely manner to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work in cross-functional teams, self-motivated, and team-oriented.
  • Understands industry/CPG sector and competitive landscape.
