We are excited to present a remarkable opportunity within our Small Medium and Enterprise (SME) commercial insurance division. Our Greater Toronto Commercial Insurance Branch is seeking a Junior Commercial Lines Underwriter (Property and Casualty).

In this role, you will manage a portfolio of essential commercial insurance accounts that require a solid underwriting skill set and a commitment to exceptional customer service. Your responsibilities will include underwriting, expanding, and overseeing a range of small to mid-sized commercial property and casualty accounts, with premiums reaching up to $25,000+. This position will allow you to demonstrate your expertise in commercial underwriting. We are eager to connect with insightful, business-oriented underwriters who are dedicated to service excellence. You will foster strong relationships through the daily management of an assigned broker portfolio.

Key Responsibilities:

Are you skilled in evaluating, selecting, and negotiating business opportunities?

Collaborate with brokers to negotiate terms and pricing for new business ventures and renewal policies, ensuring a profitable portfolio within established underwriting authority.

Do you enjoy staying informed about market dynamics?

Actively seek to learn and share insights on market trends, pricing strategies, and policy offerings relevant to your region.

How do you handle inquiries from partners?

Maintain professional and diligent communication with our broker partners to enhance the customer experience and build meaningful partnerships within your portfolio.

Are you adept at assessing risks?

Utilize critical thinking and exposure analysis skills, employing loss control and risk management resources as part of your standard operating procedures.

Qualifications:

Minimum of 1 year of experience in commercial insurance underwriting, specifically in Property and Casualty. Proven ability to collaborate effectively with Auto line and other underwriters. Strong sales acumen, marketing, communication, and negotiation skills. Highly motivated and enthusiastic individual. Capable of working independently as well as part of a team. Proficient in multitasking, with a demonstrated ability to prioritize and organize work while meeting service expectations and deadlines. CIP designation or a commitment to obtaining it in a timely manner.
