Position Overview: This role involves a contractual engagement within the health underwriting sector.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct thorough reviews of health insurance applications to ensure accuracy and completeness, approving those that meet the necessary criteria without the need for further action or medical inquiry.
  • Utilize sound judgment in medical underwriting, taking into account various underwriting standards and documentation.
  • Engage in effective communication with applicants and agents to clarify any missing or erroneous information on applications.
  • Deliver case decisions to applicants promptly and in a customer-centric manner.
  • Provide recommendations for cases that exceed standard approval limits to the Senior Underwriter or Manager.
  • Request necessary documentation in accordance with underwriting guidelines or based on medical history.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Bilingual proficiency in French and English.
  • A minimum of two years of relevant experience in the insurance industry, specifically in underwriting.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills in both French and English.
  • Strong organizational abilities.
  • Familiarity with Mainframe applications is considered an asset.
