Child and Family Mental Health Therapist

CASA Mental Health is seeking a skilled Mental Health Therapist to join our team in providing high-quality mental health services to children, youth, and families. As a Mental Health Therapist, you will play a critical role in shaping the future of our clients by providing timely mental health care and empowering them to thrive.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct comprehensive bio-psycho-social mental health assessments for assigned preschoolers, children, and adolescents.
- Develop treatment plans and formulate diagnoses using the DSM-5-TR and other diagnostic tools as appropriate.
- Provide therapeutic interventions to support patients in achieving therapeutic goals, utilizing a variety of developmentally-appropriate treatment approaches.
- Facilitate psycho-educational and therapeutic groups for children and caregivers.
- Carry out case management functions, including convening case conferences and liaising with community services and other professionals involved with the child and family.
- Advocate on behalf of the child and family as appropriate.
- Be an active, contributing member of a multi-disciplinary clinical team whose purpose is assessment, treatment, case review, and consultation.
- Follow agency policy and practice regarding admission, discharge, and maintenance of health records.
- Graduate degree in psychology, social work (with psycho-social intervention designation), or occupational therapy.
- Current registration in good standing with a professional college identified under the Health Professions Act.
- A minimum of two years of clinical practice in child and family mental health and/or youth addictions.
- Knowledge and experience supporting the healing of children and youth who have experienced trauma.
- Knowledge and experience in the following therapeutic modalities: cognitive behavioural therapy, solution-focused therapy, crisis intervention, narrative therapy, and emotionally focused therapy.
- Knowledge and experience supporting families connected with children services and/or family support services is an asset.
- Training and experience in play therapy and dialectic behavioural therapy considered an asset.
- Experience supporting the mental health of children and youth who identify as LGBTQ2S+.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team to build consensus.
- Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills.
- Familiarity with electronic medical records or similar information systems.
- Valid driver's license and access to a vehicle.
- Mental Health First Aid or Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST) certification.
- A satisfactory Criminal Records Check with Vulnerable Sector Search.
- A satisfactory Child Intervention Check.
- Ability to pass and maintain Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI) certification.
