About the Role

CASA Classrooms are a new model for school-based mental health services, addressing the need for services closer to students by bridging a child's mental health and school needs through a coordinated approach by a mental health team and a teacher.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide high-quality trauma-focused mental health therapies to children, teens, and families in partnership with the CASA team and external supports.
  • Build specialized parenting skills for caregivers with children who have exceptional needs.
  • Formulate diagnoses as appropriate, using the DSM-5-TR and other diagnostic tools.
  • Conduct case management functions, including convening case conferences and liaising with CASA therapists and psychiatrists, community services, and other professionals involved with the child and their family.
  • Coordinate consultation with other therapists or external partners as appropriate.
  • Supervise and/or precept student placements.
  • Contribute to staff knowledge and understanding of discipline-specific issues.
Qualifications
  • Master's degree in psychology, social work, or occupational therapy.
  • A minimum of two years of clinical practice in child and family mental health and/or youth addictions.
  • Active registration and in good standing with Alberta College of Social Workers (ACSW), College of Alberta Psychologists (CAP), or Alberta College of Occupational Therapists (ACOT).

  • A satisfactory Child Intervention Check.
