CASA Mental Health is seeking a skilled Mental Health Therapist to join our team in providing high-quality mental health services to children, youth, and families.
The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting comprehensive mental health assessments, developing treatment plans, and providing therapeutic interventions to support patients in achieving their goals.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct Mental Health Assessments: Conduct comprehensive bio-psycho-social mental health assessments for assigned children and adolescents.
- Develop Treatment Plans: Develop treatment plans and formulate diagnoses using the DSM-5-TR and other diagnostic tools as appropriate.
- Provide Therapeutic Interventions: Provide therapeutic interventions to support patients in achieving therapeutic goals, utilizing a variety of developmentally-appropriate treatment approaches.
- Facilitate Groups: Facilitate psycho-educational and therapeutic groups for children and caregivers.
- Case Management: Carry out case management functions, including convening case conferences and liaising with community services and other professionals involved with the child and family.
- Advocacy: Advocate on behalf of the child and family as appropriate.
- Team Collaboration: Be an active, contributing member of a multi-disciplinary clinical team whose purpose is assessment, treatment, case review, and consultation.
- Record Keeping: Follow agency policy and practice regarding admission, discharge, and maintenance of health records.
Qualifications
To be successful in this role, you will require:
- A graduate degree in psychology, social work (with psycho-social intervention designation), or occupational therapy.
- Current registration in good standing with a professional college identified under the Health Professions Act.
- A minimum of two years of clinical practice in child and family mental health and/or youth addictions.
- Knowledge and experience supporting the healing of children and youth who have experienced trauma.
- Knowledge and experience in the following therapeutic modalities: cognitive behavioural therapy, solution-focused therapy, crisis intervention, narrative therapy, and emotionally focused therapy.
- Knowledge and experience supporting families connected with children services and/or family support services is an asset.
- Training and experience in play therapy and dialectic behavioural therapy considered an asset.
- Experience supporting the mental health of children and youth who identify as LGBTQ2S+.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team to build consensus.
- Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills.
- Familiarity with electronic medical records or similar information systems.
- A valid driver's license and access to a vehicle.
- Mental Health First Aid or Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST) certification.
Conditions of Employment
The successful candidate will be required to:
- Obtain a satisfactory Criminal Records Check with Vulnerable Sector Search.
- Obtain a satisfactory Child Intervention Check.
- Pass and maintain Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI) certification.
