Job Summary

The Occupational Health Lead is responsible for developing, coordinating, implementing, and managing a comprehensive employee health service program based on government and industry guidelines. This individual provides preventative care and first aid as needed, coordinates vaccination clinics, and manages site-wide contact-tracing activities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Monitor and maintain inventory control of medical equipment and supplies.
  • Support occupational health programs, including hearing conservation, ergonomics, personal protective equipment (PPE), first aid, and behavioral observations.
  • Evaluate physical condition of employees, take vital signs, and treat injuries/illnesses.
  • Refer employees to offsite medical facilities, order supplies, and file records.
  • Assist with management of worker's compensation claims, accommodations, and return-to-work programs.
  • Prepare documents for submission to regulatory agencies.
  • Manage and coordinate site first aid programs, including instruction of standard first aid, CPR-C, and AED.
  • Provide education and health resources to employees, including mental health support and awareness.
  • Develop and manage company-wide wellness initiatives and activities.
  • Coordinate and administer onsite vaccination clinics, such as flu shots.
  • Support attendance management by working with employees on attendance improvement plans.
  • Employee contact-tracing and follow-up to ensure employee safety and proper return-to-work practices.
  • Communicate with client groups regarding absences and expected return dates.
  • Facilitate return to work from occupational and non-occupational injuries and illnesses.
  • Assist in plant emergency response.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Nursing (RN) or LPN diploma required.
  • 3+ years of related experience and/or training.
  • Spirometry testing, respiratory surveillance, and occupational hearing conservationist preferred.
  • Certified Occupational Nurse (COHN) or Certified Occupational Nurse Specialist (COHNS) preferred.
  • New Brunswick RN or LPN license required.
Working Conditions

This role supports manufacturing operations in a 24/7 and/or shift work environment. The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, moving mechanical parts, and fumes or airborne particles. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud when on the production floor and moderately loud when in the office area.
