Position Overview

The Office of the Auditor General (OAG) operates as an autonomous entity within the Legislative Assembly, established under The Auditor General Act. Our mission is to deliver impartial information, guidance, and assurance regarding governmental operations and the stewardship of public finances. As legislative auditors, we extend our services to the Manitoba Legislative Assembly and, by extension, to all residents of Manitoba. Employment Conditions:
  • Must possess legal authorization to work in Canada
  • A satisfactory Criminal Record Check is required
  • Willingness to work limited overtime as necessary
Qualifications:
  • A CPA designation or progress towards obtaining a CPA designation after passing the CFE
  • Significant recent experience in applying accounting principles and Canadian Auditing Standards (CAS) for financial statement audits
  • Exceptional analytical abilities to identify, assess, and resolve issues effectively
  • Capability to plan, organize, and manage assigned tasks efficiently
  • Strong written communication skills to convey audit findings to diverse stakeholders
  • Proactive approach with the ability to work independently under minimal supervision
  • Excellent interpersonal skills for effective collaboration within a team and with various stakeholders
  • Strong verbal communication skills, including active listening and concise presentation of information.
Key Responsibilities: Reporting directly to the financial statement managers and/or principals and indirectly to the Deputy Auditor General, the Senior Auditor will be an integral part of the financial statements service area, conducting financial statement audits in compliance with Canadian Auditing Standards. The Senior Auditor will oversee staff, manage audit budgets, and engage actively in audit processes, including planning, evidence collection, and reporting of findings.
