Position Overview

The Office of the Auditor General (OAG) operates as an autonomous entity within the Legislative Assembly, established under The Auditor General Act. Our mission is to deliver impartial information, guidance, and assurance regarding government operations and the stewardship of public resources. Employment Conditions:
  • Must possess legal authorization to work in Canada
  • A satisfactory Criminal Record Check is required
  • Willingness to work overtime as necessary (rarely)
Qualifications:
  • A CPA designation or progress towards obtaining a CPA designation after successfully completing the CFE
  • Significant recent experience in applying accounting principles and Canadian Auditing Standards (CAS) in the execution of financial statement audits
  • Exceptional analytical abilities to identify and evaluate issues and draw logical conclusions
  • Capability to effectively plan, organize, and follow up on assigned tasks
  • Strong written communication skills to convey audit findings to various stakeholders
  • Proactive attitude with the ability to take initiative and work independently with minimal supervision
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively within a team and engage with a diverse range of stakeholders
  • Strong verbal communication skills, including active listening and the ability to present information clearly.
Key Responsibilities: Reporting directly to the financial statement managers and/or principals and indirectly to the Deputy Auditor General, the Senior Auditor will collaborate within the financial statements service area to conduct financial statement audits in accordance with Canadian Auditing Standards. The Senior Auditor will oversee staff, manage audit budgets, and actively engage in audit processes, including planning, evidence collection, and reporting findings.
