Key Responsibilities:

As a pivotal leader reporting to the Director of Claim Services, you will be tasked with overseeing and implementing learning and development strategies within the Group Life and Disability Claims division. Your role will encompass the design and execution of comprehensive training programs focused on disability payments, claims adjudication, and rehabilitation services, while also driving process enhancements.

The primary responsibilities of this position include:

  • Enhancing departmental performance by coordinating initiatives aimed at achieving operational excellence aligned with the strategic vision.
  • Developing and implementing best practices for training programs, coaching initiatives, and performance metrics.
  • Utilizing quality management principles to refine departmental operations and productivity, ensuring alignment with the organization's strategic goals.
  • Gathering, analyzing, and presenting data for management reporting, including insights on the effectiveness of claims and rehabilitation services.
  • Providing strategic information to the leadership team regarding objectives, opportunities, results, and market trends.
  • Communicating departmental strategies and ensuring employees have the resources needed to perform their roles effectively.
  • Collaborating with team members to establish individual and collective goals, offering guidance and support to facilitate achievement.
  • Ensuring compliance with departmental standards in all process improvement initiatives.
  • Assisting team members with complex claims by providing necessary information and guidance.
  • Delivering presentations on claims and rehabilitation services.
  • Building strong relationships with marketing and insurance representatives, serving as a spokesperson for claims and rehabilitation when necessary.

Ideal Candidate Profile:

The successful candidate will possess the following qualifications:

  • At least eight years of experience in disability claims and a minimum of five years in a managerial or supervisory capacity.
  • In-depth knowledge of insurance principles, practices, and contracts, particularly in relation to long-term disability products and claims services.
  • Exceptional organizational, project management, and time management skills to effectively prioritize tasks.
  • General understanding of mental health issues, common physical disabilities, and the rehabilitation process.
  • Outstanding communication skills with the ability to engage effectively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Relevant designations such as HIAA, ICA, FLMI, and CCRC are advantageous.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite applications.
  • A degree in a relevant field or equivalent qualifications.
  • Ability to communicate in French is considered an asset.
