Key Responsibilities:

As a strategic leader reporting to the Director of Claim Services, you will oversee the learning and development strategies within the Group Life and Disability Claims department. Your role will involve:

  • Enhancing departmental efficiency by coordinating initiatives aligned with our strategic objectives.
  • Developing and implementing training programs, coaching frameworks, and performance metrics.
  • Applying quality management principles to refine departmental operations and productivity.
  • Gathering and analyzing data for management reporting, focusing on claims and rehabilitation service effectiveness.
  • Providing insights to the leadership team regarding objectives, opportunities, and industry trends.
  • Communicating departmental strategies and ensuring team members have the resources needed for success.
  • Collaborating with team members to establish goals and provide necessary coaching and support.
  • Ensuring compliance with process improvement initiatives.
  • Assisting team members with complex claims inquiries.
  • Delivering presentations on claims and rehabilitation services.
  • Building effective relationships with marketing and insurance representatives.

Ideal Candidate Profile:

The successful candidate will possess:

  • At least eight years of experience in disability claims, with a minimum of five years in a leadership role.
  • In-depth knowledge of insurance practices, underwriting agreements, and claims services.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills to navigate competing priorities.
  • Understanding of mental health issues, physical disabilities, and rehabilitation processes.
  • Excellent communication skills, capable of engaging with diverse stakeholders.
  • Relevant designations such as HIAA, ICA, FLMI, and CCRC are advantageous.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • A university degree in a related field or equivalent qualifications.
  • Ability to communicate in French is a plus.
