Health Information Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled Health Information Professional to join our team at the Government of the Northwest Territories. As a key member of our health services delivery and administration team, you will be responsible for providing expert technical information and operational support for health information and health information management.
Key Responsibilities- Code and abstract inpatient, day surgery, emergency, and outpatient records with accuracy and attention to detail.
- Maintain the Med2020 reporting system to ensure data integrity and consistency.
- Ensure the confidentiality and security of personal health information, adhering to relevant laws and regulations.
- Collaborate with healthcare providers to ensure accurate and complete health information is available.
- Develop and implement data management strategies to improve health information quality and accessibility.
To be successful in this role, you will require:
- A degree in Health Information Management or a recognized Health Information Management diploma.
- Current certification with the Canadian College of Health Information Management (CHIM).
- At least one year of experience in coding and abstracting or seven years of health record experience.
- Active membership with the Canadian Health Information Management Association (CHIMA).
